Question:
I get the following error message when sending email.
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'recipient@domain.com'. Subject 'Some Subject', Account: '<account name>', Server: '<server address>', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 <you@yourdomain.com>... Relaying denied, authenticate with SMTP AUTH or POP/IMAP', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
Whats the problem?
Answer:
This is because the email server requires you to authenticate yourself before sending an email message, so you will need to adjust your settings to make that happen. If you are using Outlook, follow the instructions below. If you are using another email program, call us at 801-433-5423 or support@jibemedia.com.
In Outlook:
- Click on the Tools menu and select Email Accounts.
- Click Next.
- Double-click on your email account (normally listed as your domain name).
- Click on the More Settings... button.
- On the Outgoing Server tab check the box marked 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication'.
- Make sure "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
